The original moated Gothic manor, dating from the end of the 15th century, was renovated first in the Renaissance and later in the Romantic styles. Parts of the outer ramparts are preserved, as are notable wall painting in the "Golden Hall" and the so-called ´Budyně dragon´, a crocodile brought in 1518 by Jan Zajíc of Hazmburk.
