A Royal Town, founded in 1226 by Přemysl Otakar I.
The historic core contains the Dominican monastery, the Capuchin monastery, St Nicholas´ Church, St Wenceslas´ Chapel, the Althan Palace, the Jesuit college, the Minorite monastery - now a museum, St Michael´s Church, the castle and St Catherine´s Rotunda.
