The dam of Lipno is formed by an earth fill 25 m high and 285 m long dam, strengthened by concrete caissons.
It was built in 1951 - 1959 on the Vltava. Any navigation facilities are missing on the dam of the reservoir. It is the largest water surface in the CR with the area 4.650 ha and volume 306 mil. cubic m water.
The underground power plant has 2 Francis turbines. Above Vyšší Brod was built a smaller dam Lipno II. with the power plant finished in 1960.
