It was erected after flooding the valley of the Jihlava. A vast water work was built in 1970 - 1978. Here is in question the water storage power plant with two reservoirs and with the passage water power plant.
The Kramolín dam is earth filldam with clay sealing and it has the height 100 m. It is the highest earth fill dam in the CR.
The lower dam by Mohelno is made of concrete and has the height 50 m.
The dam serves recreational, energetic and irrigation purposes.
